It’s Friday the 13th today–beware! (Or, carry on as normal.) Turns out we’ll have one more Friday the 13th in 2012, this July. Learn a little more about the superstitions surrounding this day here.

Catholic leaders today released a statement condemning Paul Ryan’s budget. They said: “Simply put, this budget is morally indefensible and betrays Catholic principles of solidarity, just taxation and a commitment to the common good. A budget that turns its back on the hungry, the elderly and the sick while giving more tax breaks to the wealthiest few can’t be justified in Christian terms.” Faith in Public Life notes the bishops’ very loud silence on this issue as compared to talking about contraception.

As debates continue about the Affordable Care Act, one hospital CEO has given his opinion of healthcare in the U.S.: “America already has a universal health-care mandate. We simply fund it and supply that care in a nonsensical, inefficient, exorbitantly expensive way.”
