Catholic Social Ministry Gathering Day 2: International issues LIVE BLOG

Uncategorized

I am at the Catholic Social Ministry Gathering this week, learning about the bishops’ policy priorities and getting story ideas from those working in social ministry in parishes and dioceses around the country.

Day 2 covers interanational issues, and the day begins with a plenary from Paul Collier, Professor of Economics at Oxford University, Director of the Centre for the Study of African Economies, and author of The Bottom Billion. Again, I'll try to provide highlights from the breakout sessions on the following topics:

Israel-Palestine: For the Peace of Jerusalem
How Do Catholics Spell Peacebuilding?
Afghanistan-Pakistan: Transitioning From Conflict?
Sudan: Post-Referendum Realities
Catholics Confront Global Poverty: Are Poor Persons A Budget Priority?
Haiti: From Hurt to Hope

Feel free to ask questions in through Cover It Live. Learn about the domestic issues covered yesterday here.
