Gates-gate finale?

Great piece from Frank Rich on the Gates-gate [1] from Sunday's NY Times. But I also think this commentator is right on the money [2]. Little noted the brouhaha is the fact that, yes, even white people can expect to face arrest or worse if they offer any lip to police during a traffic stop, street encounter, etc. Such “street justice” has been assumed by police and accepted by the public for generations. Our acceptance of same might be worth a rethink.
