Weekly roundup: Sister Cristina, D-Day, and Voter ID

Uncategorized

AND now it’s June. If you’re anything like me this has come as a complete shock and surprise as you’re suddenly required to turn your calendars from March to June. (Personally, I thought there a couple of other months in there.) If you are not like me, and you are completely on top of everything, bully for you.

But if you are like me, you may have missed a few things this week. So this is your weekly roundup.

In other world news, Sister Cristina, the young sister who took the world by storm a couple of months ago in her blind audition on Italy’s The Voice, won the whole shebang. If you need a good afternoon pick-me-up, watch her singing “Living on a prayer.”

In a study from the University of Southern California, researchers found a strong suggestion that Voter ID laws are discriminatory.

New Jersey is trying out a new defense for the archdiocese, by claiming that sexual abuse that happened while the priest was “not on duty”… shouldn’t count?

One of Pope Francis’ top advisors has caused some controversy by suggesting that libertarianism and Catholicism just don’t mix well.

And now for your rapid fire papal roundup.

This week, Pope Francis:

And that’s it for now. Go outside and enjoy the fact that it is June. And be sure to take our survey about sin. This will be your last chance!
