Catholic politicians plus abortion equals free-for-all

Oh boy, here we go again. Now that Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius has been nominated as Secretary of Health and Human Services, anyone in journalism, particularly Catholic journalism, has been inundated with press releases arguing either:

Kathleen Sebelius is evil incarnate, best friends with Planned Parenthood, and has been asked not to receive Communion by the archbishop of Kansas City, Kansas.

Or:

Kathleen Sebelius exemplifies a pragmatic approach to the abortion issue, supporting abortion rights along with public policies that have reduced abortion in her state of Kansas by 10 percent.

U.S. News and World Report's religion blog has more, including links to press releases by the Family Research Council and Catholic League on the right and Catholics United on the left.

I'll bet these confirmation hearings are going to be doozies: Between abortion and universal health care, I don't think I'd want to be in the hot seat.
