Movies in Church?
What is the Church's postion on the use of the church building for movies? I read Canon 1210 and 1220.1. In it, one could interpret that it is "forbidden" or even profane. I know there are provisions for other religiious activities such as music performances, plays depicting major events in the Gospel, etc, but a secular move (holday based), with popcorn, in the Church? I am a bit confused by this practice, and that the pastor authorized it. Any comments?

Movie theater in parish
By Megan Sweas on Monday, December 21, 2009I haven't read Canon law, so I can't speak to that, but I did blog about a church that built a movie theater on its property earlier this year: http://www.uscatholic.org/blog/2009/02/more-movie-news. I imagine that the bishop wouldn't have allowed that if it wasn't permitted by Canon law. At the parish I blogged about, the goal was to link the showing of movies, including secular movies, into discussion and catechisis. I'm curious--what movie was shown?
