This is a hateful response, something Rush Limbaugh could easily have said, or one of our U.S. Catholic bishops. But then there are those of us who believe that a significant number of U.S. bishops do not provided sufficient evidence that they would ever be convicted should Christianity become illegal.
To the question 'Were you to be arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough proofs to indict you?'. in the case of the USA, I would say 'No.'
We claim to be. We fight and insult others in the name of Christianity. But would Jesus Christ see many of us so-called Christians as followers? I somehow doubt it.
I agree with Claire that what witnesses to us being followers of Jesus is sadly lacking. The remark following about President Obama is an example. Christians do not excel in hatred, bigotry, war, violence, and other acts that are contrary to what Jesus taught is the sign of his followers ... love for one another.
We began to lose our Christian roots once we bowed down before the modern-day god of Baal (by sacrificing our babies to the god of "convenience.")
We then lost our Christian Heritage completely in our last presidential election, as Obama himself stated in one of his speeches immediately after his taking office, "America is no longer a Christian nation"...
Define what a "Christian nation" means, then the question and follow-up comments can have some focus and meaning. How do you define a Christian nation?
