And though we now are clear on Obama’s views on same-sex marriage, apparently people are still not convinced about the president’s true religion. (Sigh.)
We didn’t have to wait long for an answer to Scott Alessi’s hypothetical question of who would be the next group to come under scrutiny from the Catholic Church. Congrats if you guessed it would be the Girl Scouts! According to a letter from the bishops’ conference, the Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth will investigate the Scouts’ “possible problematic relationships with other organizations” and various “problematic” program materials.
Remember the Vatican conference on stem cell research that was canceled in March? Apparently members of the Vatican’s bioethics advisory panel are calling for its board to resign for inviting controversial speakers to the conference. The letter suggesting resignation expressed concern that the Pontifical Academy for Life is “losing its full and pure commitment to the truth and its enthusiastic service to the unreduced magnificent church teaching on human life in its whole splendor.”
