Who cares? The world is ending! UPDATE: It didn't

UPDATE: We're all still here! But I do feel bad about all the people who really thought they wouldn't be here today. It's easy to have a good laugh about doomsday hysterics, but they have a lot to figure out now. While we wait for them to figure out the next date (December 12, 2012?), here's a good story on what Catholics make of the Second Coming.

Original post:

Between sex abuse, budget discussion, infallibility and women's ordination, it's been a heavy week. But I suppose all that won't matter after 6 p.m. tomorrow when the world ends.

Of course, we're all pre-destined anyway, so no way to know whether your saved or not, but as our Claretian editor Father John Molyneux pointed out, a good old act of contrition wouldn't hurt around 5:55. (Is that Central or perhaps Pacific time?)

O my God,
I am heartily sorry for
having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of heaven,
and the pains of hell;
but most of all because
they offend Thee, my God,
Who are all good and
deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve,
with the help of Thy grace,
to confess my sins,
to do penance,
and to amend my life.

Amen.

And if that doesn't work, well then, there's always the post-rapture party. See all you fine Catholic readers on Monday...or not.
