Do we get what we pay for?

Steve Thorngate at the Christian Century posted something interesting today : a sample itemized receipt for the taxes paid by a middle-class earner:

Thorngate says that if we can "persist in spending almost three times more on the space program than we do on housing for poor people, we ought to be able to print a receipt that says so." Financial accountability is increasingly seen as a must, and I can't think of any clearer, simpler way to for the government to be open about where our money is going. 

I'd especially like to see the receipts of those who earn exponentially more than the average, middle-class citizen.
