If the pope were stranded on an island... Top 10 pop albums

In its continued effort to speak to the wider culture more frequently, the Vatican’s semi-official newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano, released a Top 10 list of rock and pop albums for all time. Here is their "semi-serious" guide, perfect if you’re stranded on a desert island, the newspaper said:

1. Revolver by The Beatles

2. If I Could Only Remember My Name by David Crosby

3. Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd

4. Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

5. The Nightfly by Donald Fagen of Steely Dan

6. Thriller by Michael Jackson

7. Graceland by Paul Simon

8. Achtung Baby by U2

9. (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis

10. Supernatural by Carlos Santana

I put this list in the Catholic Tastes section for the April issue of U.S. Catholic magazine and every time a fellow editor gives me back a proofread page, they says, "Really? Oasis?"

What do you make of the selections, or even the fact that they bothered to make a list?

Also, *80 more days* till I get to see him in concert....can you imagine how I will feel when he hits that stage ?

Oh yes, good news: *****I was just blessed to be able to reserve two good seats for his Detroit concert-  even though tickets don't go on sale to the general public until mid-June :) *******

Can I get a witness

JUST WANT TO SEE HIS FACE
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

That's all right, that's all right, that's all right.
Sometimes you feel like trouble, sometimes you feel down.
Let this music relax you mind, let this music relax you mind.
Stand up and be counted, can I get a witness.
Sometimes you need somebody, if you have somebody to love.
Sometimes you ain't got nobody and you want somebody to love.
Then you don't want to walk and talk about Jesus,
You just want to see his face.
You don't want to walk and talk about Jesus,
You just want to see his face.

Congrats on the tix. I know the feeling. I saw the Stones up close at the Tower Theater and from the third row center aisle at the Skydome. I've seen them every tour since '75. It's so silly but it's fun as long as you realize that's all it is. As Keith says, "I don't think rock n' roll songwriters should worry about art. I don't think it comes into it...as far as I'm concerned, Art is just short for Arthur."

Exile comes out at Midnight. I'll be in line.

Food for thought:

"I've been playing with it (Internet) and done a few Internet interviews, but I'd rather leave it to my kids. I'm just not interested what other @r$@#0(@$ at the other end of the world think about this or that. Apart from that, it's no good for your body or your eyes to sit at the computer all day." - Keith Richards

Thank you Beth and IORR for the good wishes

Yes, I'm so happy about those tickets.

IORR, thanks for the words of wisdom from Keith.

Not Afraid-- with lyrics (and followed by old school Eminem "Lose Yourself" video):

A new chapter in Dave (Em fan's) life !

Lyrics from Not Afraid that are Dave's credo now:

I'm not afraid to take a stand, Everybody come take my hand

We'll walk this road together, through the storm, Whatever weather, cold or warm

Just let you know that, you're not alone, Holla if you feel like you've been down the same road

And I just can't keep living this way, So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage

I'm standing up, Imma face my demons, I'm manning up Imma hold my ground

I've had enough now I'm so fed up, Time to put my life back together right now

What About ...

Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin
One by U2
Imagine by John Lennon
Roundabout by Yes
Layla by Derek & The Dominos
Hotel California by Eagles
Let it Be by the Beatles
Light My Fire by the Doors
Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan
American Pie by Don McLean

Imagine That...

Yes, its pie in the sky but ... so is the Good News. Ack! I've had enough with the knee-jerk inane diatribes...take a chill pill, please!

Imagine by John Lennon...

... perfectly encapsulates the kindergarden thinking of the left as Evan Sayat has pointed out.

Instead of imagine "good religion" or "good countries" the Utopian sees that since all relgions and government is flawed it imagines wiping out religion and government and then everyone will live in peace. The Left sees itself as the arbiter of utopia in is tempted by totalitarianism over liberty to establish it a world of "no possessions."
