Editing the Bible

Forget Biblical literalism, a conservative group is editing the Bible to match their values and is using a Wiki to do so.

The Conservative Bible Project is part of Conservapedia--a wikipedia for conservatives. Therefore anybody can contribute their proposed edits, being made to the King James Version of the Bible. I couldn't find many edits being made yet, but you can see their guidelines here.

This is a strange combination of using a technology that equalizes everyone's voices to create an intolerant translation of the Bible.

I just hope they keep this in mind from Augustine (via Karen Armstrong's recently released The Case for God): "The exegete must not leave a text until he could make it 'establish the reign of charity.'"

As the Crunchy Con Rod Dherer says at beliefnet.com, "the insane hubris of this really staggers the mind."
