Priests online
The key to survival, many small orders of priests are finding, is going online.
In an appropriate article for the Year of the Priest, the Chicago Tribune recently featured the Alexian Brother's efforts to recruit online at YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
"You have to go to where the people are," Brother Dan McCormick, director of vocations, told the Tribune. "If you don't get new blood, you're going to wither on the vine."
The Alexians YouTube page has resulted in two new recruits, but with 36 members and an average age of 73, are these online efforts too little too late?
Numerous other orders are also recruiting at social networking sites, including our publishers, the Claretians (linked to their YouTube page, which has ministry related content).
For a truly unique "recruitment" video, check out the Boston College Jesuits' "Livin' on a prayer" music video. They certainly have a sense of humor.
God
By Dorman (not verified) on Sunday, January 2, 2011I believe in god, I believe in the bible, he is coming soon. I have so much to say. Jesus died for me to take my sins. I will die for his love. I truly believe in him. I want to know him.
Hi.I just wanted to start
By Anonymous (not verified) on Thursday, September 23, 2010Hi.I just wanted to start out by saying that I am extremely mad at god and or jesus for the fact that he let's people like politician's get away with what they do.I turned my back on god year's ago, when I seen how politics will go so far as taking live's for thier personal endowment. It is sick what people get away with like osama bin laden. Are you telling me that nobody know's where he really is?.No, he is being protected by money. How much does 5,000 live's cost?A billion?!He's related to royal families and tycoon's.He's got the money.Where is god?Where is Jesus?Another thing with me is I beleive I was subconsiously manipulated by politic's or "police"in an all out effort to make me look like I'm crazy so I would have no chance in "hell"to ever have custody of my son, because his mother is related to the cop's.How do I prove it?I don't know I'm not as educated as them. Therefore it make's me look like a schizo.I believe I was hypmotized. My life is not normal.I'm going to church one more time to ask for help from god and or Jesus and I want to see justice against the "giants"Once I see some kind of equilibrium,I will be faithful again.Until then I am nothing.I know I can't live much longer like this and I will do something about it.Until then god help them all.The destroyer's of life, and god let's them get away with it.
feelings ive had since at least the age 10
By Anonymous (not verified) on Saturday, November 21, 2009ever since i was 10 i have had feelings that evil entitys follow me everwhere and at age 32 i am meant to do exactly what christ did for man kind except for the riseing again part when i was 16 i took up witchcraft and 3 months ago i gave up the religion because it started to be used by people who would use it for negative purposes and the feelings have never gone away, and now that i am approaching 32 i am more fearful of what might happen and more fearful of death, espeacially since i have no religion at the present timeand for the last year and a half i have felt the urgent need to talk to a catholic priest to see if i am possesed, crazy,or just schizophrenic. i know right from wrong so i dont think i am schizophrenic i wanted to talk to a catholic priest first to see if it is a religious matter and if it is not talk to a therapyst to see if i am in deed schizophrenic if you have any advise please email me as soon as posible at fulton.chris26@yahoo.com thank you

Contact a diocese or religious community
By Bryan Cones on Monday, July 6, 2009The best way to become a seminarian is to contact a diocese or religious community.

Nigeria
By Anonymous (not verified) on Thursday, September 23, 2010Bryan,
This sounds like a scam. People should be warned. Phony on-line pleads like this often originate from Nigeria. Soon he will be asking for donations.
Even if it's not a scam, he doesn't sound like priest material. Instead of contacting a diocese or religious community he should contact a good therapist and get a prescription.
Sorry
By Anonymous (not verified) on Thursday, September 23, 2010Rereading the posts I see that the guy from Nigeria doesn't have the same handle as Anon with the demons making him do stuff. Still, be wary. It smells like a scam.
