They aren't in limbo, but unbaptized babies aren't in a cemetery either.
Archeologists are looking for mass graves of babies that died before Baptism in Belfast, according to the Associated Press. The scary part: this practice seemed to have continued until the 1980s!
The babies had been buried in land that was later leased to the Ulster Wildlife Trust. Upon locating the graves, the land will be returned to the cemetery, though the archeologist will not be able to identify specific individuals buried there.
What a strange story, but also what a sad story!
